Howl2000

The HOWL2000 Mailing List provides a safe place for Halloween ghouls to exchange ideas and information. This includes all things Halloween.

If you are interested in subscribing to the list, you can use one of the following methods:

Method 1: For people who have their Web Browsers set up for email, just click on subscribe or unsubscribe. A properly addressed, empty mail message will be created. Then just send it.

Method 2: If the above does not work, then you will have to create the email by hand. This is not too difficult. Just create a new email message and send it to:

requests@WildRice.com

In the subject field, put

subscribe HOWL2000

You can leave the body of the message empty. Anything you do put there will be ignored.

As an example, if you use Eudora,
the message would look something like this  >>>===>

Once you have created the message, just click the send button.

To unsubscribe, do the same thing, but put a UN in front of subscribe to make the subject unsubscribe HOWL2000.

Note that the list requires that all posts come from people who are subscribed to the list, so make sure that the address that you subscribe from is the same one that you will be sending messages from.

The Ground Rules

Standard list rules apply: No cussn', flaming, or spamming. Volators will be removed. This is a friendly, social list, but we try to stay on topic.

Messages that contain the string <HTML> will be rejected by the server. Many people cannot read HTML messages. On the other hand, messages containing URLs are encouraged. Messages with enclosures are also rejected. They can spread viruses.

Product announcements from companies that have to do with Halloween supplies, construction, and events are allowed, but keep them simple and provide a URL for the bulk of the message. Provide information, not marketing junk. One post is enough to inform people.

If you stop getting messages from the list, it may be because I have been getting bounce messages back when the list tries to send to you. The only way I have to resolve these is to delete you. If this happens, clear up your email problems, then resubscribe.

Questions to the list can range from basic to complex. No one is an expert in all fields. If you do not know, and cannot find the answer in the available doc, ask. If we get a question too often, we can create a FAQ. Even the so-called 'dumb' questions help a lot of people, even the old timers as they will often bring to mind a new thought or idea. So Lurkers, don't be afraid to post!

Please try to keep your signature lines short. It is recommended that you use four lines or less. When you reply to a message, please delete the List footer from the bottom of the reply. A new one will be added by the listserv and they tend to stack up.

I will let you know if I think that something is getting out of hand.

If you need to contact me, send a message to WebMaster@WildRice.com.

Welcome to the List!

Yours Truly,
The HowlMaster
